speed's adventure
gameplay content
speed's adventure is the first of the two speed's adventure games, releasing on the 24th of May, 2026. Its sequel is speed's adventure 2.
Gameplay
speed's adventure plays like a typical platformer. The goal is to reach the end of the level, each having a different goal object: multiple, omega, allball, and catalyst, while (rather optionally) collecting stars and squashing enemies:
• adjustaminion - looks visually the same as adjustable
• false omega - miscolored version of omega, moves faster
• float bouncer - you bounce on it (or its "not float -->" text, which changes to "you killed float..." when hit), bounces the player off.
Ball Differences
Playing as speed uses the standard moveset.Playing as bolt makes the player permanently jump up and bolt down, as seen in BALL RACE game. Playing as adjustable allows you to move freely and phase through walls and enemies. Touching adjustable in the chase throws you to the boss fight immediately, contacting it in the boss fight instakills it.
Death
Upon depleting all 3 (or 5 if in the boss fight) lives, the player fades away, music slows to a stop and the screen turns grayscale before the level resets.Boss Fight The fifth level is a chase level with adjustable chasing you. Letting it catch you at the end of said level leads you directly to the boss fight.
During the boss fight, adjustable uses one of several attacks randomly:
• slam - alerts the player before targeting it with a slam. Chance to sit on the floor for a few seconds.• low swipe - pulses before moving close to the floor for a few seconds, giving the player the chance to hit them. Pulses again before returning to the top.
• corner swipe - goes to one of the two arena corners before going to the other side, chance to move back, then moves to where it was.
• adjustadrop (when boss HP below 80) - drops a few smaller adjustables from the ceiling, 1/10 chance for one to display the "blehh" emoticon.
• laser bursts (when boss HP below 54) - vertical lasers strike randomly a second after they appear transparent, then fade out. Individual lasers have a chance to target the player.
• moving ground spikes (when boss HP below 54) - spikes move from left or right to the other side.
After attacking a few times it enters a "rage" phase where it repeatedly slams toward the player. Then the attack cycle repeats.
adjustable can be hit on its "head" to deal 1 damage; there's other ways, documented below.
Mechanics
After certain health milestones, the boss emits a loud vocal sound, goal objects (ones you collected as the goals) appear and the player's health is replenished. They give the player temporary invincibility after hitting the boss, draining 1 HP.
• 90 HP - multiple: deals contact damage• 74 HP - omega: goes in a straight line when clicking the mouse, retracts when hitting
• 54 HP - allball: goes toward the boss on mouse click, slows down by a small factor, drains 0.5 HP
• <35.5 HP - catalyst: drains 1 HP from the boss every 1.66 seconds
After draining adjustable's HP entirely, the game freezes as it implodes with a flashbang that fades to black. Depending on who you played as, you'll receive different unlock screens before being cut back to the main menu.
Defeating the boss as speed unlocks bolt.
Defeating the boss as bolt has 2 different outcomes:
Meeting the requirement of having all points (all collectables and enemies) and maximum possible lives on each level unlocks adjustable. Otherwise, bolt is unlocked again.
Trivia
• A community member made the "blehh" adjustable emoticon, as seen in the adjustadrop attack. They did not make this for the boss, though.• During the chase level and the boss arena, the points counter displays "it knows" instead, occasionally corrupting into ASCII (with a number telling the boss' HP in the boss arena) before resetting normally.
• The sound adjustable makes before slamming is recycled as POO BALL's damage sound in speed's adventure 2.
• A bug causes sticks to appear after defeating adjustable while the player is below 3 HP.
• The HP icons change depending on which ball you play as.
